This National Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, we This National Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, we’re honoring the Turner family.

When 6 year old David Jr. was diagnosed with DIPG (a rare childhood brain cancer), his family found comfort, connection and joy through Camp Gilda and events at Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana.

David Jr. taught his family to "Make Every Day the Best Day Ever," a message that inspired Governor Andy Beshear to proclaim May 21st as official 'David Jr. Ice Cream Day' in Kentucky🍨

Today, Liz and David Sr. return to Gilda’s Club to serve ice cream, support families and ensure no pediatric cancer family ever walks through diagnosis or grief alone.💛

Their investment in our mission helps us serve more families touched by pediatric cancer through financial assistance, summer camp, family events and more.

It was an honor to join the trust fund board, families, advocates and fellow support organizations for the proclamation of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness month in Kentucky with Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman at the Norton Children's Cancer Institute Resource Center.

It is vital that we continue to raise awareness, invest in research and come together in support of every family on their cancer journey.

I didn't choose to get cancer; it chose me. At Gilda's, I've learned that cancer doesn't define who I am, what I can do, or how to live my life. I'm still in charge of me as I walk this journey learning to live with cancer, and not for cancer.
- Denise
Testimonial Image
The support I've received has been invaluable and it's comforting to know I'm surrounded by people who truly understand the cancer journey and are there to support me every step of the way.
- Houwaida

As a person caring for a loved one with cancer, I cannot recommend Gilda’s enough to others. Gilda’s left me more informed and less alone. It’s a vital resource.
- Ziva

Gilda’s saved me when my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer. Gilda’s became an emotional lifeline. To be surrounded by those with similar stories was invaluable. After he passed, I joined the bereavement group and learned to navigate how to live with loss.
