The goal of short-term counseling is to focus on the immediate needs of an individual or family, helping gain clarity, resilience and the emotional tools necessary to manage their situation. Counseling can improve relationships, reduce anxiety and depression, provide healthier coping strategies, increase self-esteem, lead to better communication skills and so much more.
What to Expect
If you are in active treatment, a caregiver, a survivor or bereaved, you can benefit from our short-term counseling services. The counseling we provide at Gilda’s Club consists of six to eight one-hour sessions which are solution-focused and free to our participants. Short-term counseling is typically brief, focusing on addressing immediate emotional needs. These sessions offer coping strategies to navigate the complex feelings that arise when dealing with cancer, life after cancer or a death due to cancer.
Our Therapists
Our therapists are mental health professionals, including Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Art Therapists and masters-level social work and art therapy students. They provide a safe, non-judgmental space that allows you to express your feelings, fears and concerns.
Flexible Scheduling
We understand that many of our participants are balancing home life, work and treatment schedules, so our therapists work to accommodate your needs by offering flexible hours for sessions and the opportunity to meet virtually.
If you or someone you know who is living with cancer or its aftermath and needs short-term individual, couples or family counseling, we’re here to help. To get started, you’ll just complete a short form and one of our mental health professionals will be in touch.
