FRIENDS & FAMILY

Cancer impacts not only the person who is diagnosed but also their loved ones.

Being a family member or friend of someone who has cancer can be tough. If you also happen to be a caregiver, the effects are even greater —physically, financially and emotionally.

At Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana, you’ll discover a supportive community through our Friends and Family support group. We hold Friends and Family support groups on Tuesday nights at the Grinstead location from 6:30 to 8pm, coinciding with our support groups for your loved one with active cancer. And to help you unwind and refuel, dinner is provided at 5:45pm!

As a family member, you may find yourself wanting to be supportive but may not know what to do or say. You may also find yourself in the role of a caregiver. If so, remember you’re not alone. While the demands of caregiving can vary based on the disease’s stage, type of treatment, and other factors, caregivers often spend around 8 hours a day providing care. Juggling medical appointments, coordinating care, managing household responsibilities and navigating financial concerns can feel heavy.

No matter your role, our Friends and Family group is a wonderful space to share your thoughts, frustrations, and fears—especially during those moments when you feel overwhelmed. Finding social and emotional support is important.

Remember, you don’t have to go through this alone!

Individual Counseling

Counseling is a powerful tool for learning coping skills and for healing. We offer is short-term individual, family or couples counseling for anyone directly impacted by cancer.
